During the year, students have an opportunity to perform in the concert ensemble, jazz ensemble, pep and marching band, drum line, or smaller chamber ensembles (percussion ensemble, brass/woodwind trios and quartets).
Student’s participation in band will have lasting benefits in their development as young adults. On a cognitive level, mastering an instrument involves the learning of specific techniques, fingering combinations, reading on sight, and the ability to listen in an ensemble setting. With diligence and the cooperation of all students in a unified goal to perform to their best ability, the performing musical experience can be like no other. Students will strengthen self esteem as they perform in front of audiences on a regular basis, work toward a common goal; which fosters a sense of worth, and be offered leadership opportunities in the ensemble. One of the most central values of the musical arts is the environment of cooperation and community. In the band program, students have the chance to meet many new friends and produce wonderful musical programs in cooperation with all the members of the organization.
This community would certainly not be possible without the support of the people like you. One of the challenges of a musical program is that it takes financial resources in order to keep the program running. Band programs require instruments for students to play, maintenance for those instruments, music purchases, uniform purchases, and perishable items (reeds, drum sticks, drum heads, oils, etc.). All of this can be fairly costly but with the help of the community we can make this wonderful experience possible for our students. Thank you for your support and everything you do for our students!
